R2S Delivers First Tamir Interceptors Produced in Camden, Arkansas

 October 07, 2026

EAST CAMDEN, Ark. (Oct. 7, 2026) – Raytheon-Rafael Protection Systems (R2S) executives today joined federal and state officials to mark the delivery of the company’s first Tamir missiles produced at its new manufacturing facility in Camden, Arkansas. Raytheon is an RTX business.

This delivery represents the beginning of R2S’s U.S. production for the Iron Dome Weapon System. R2S plans to scale its production output in Camden to meet domestic and international demand for short- and medium-range air defense.

“For the first time, the United States can produce these interceptors in the United States,” said Jonathan Casey, R2S Chief Executive Officer. “Domestic production strengthens America’s industrial base and provides the U.S. and its allies with a second reliable, scalable source for these critical defensive systems.”

The R2S facility represents a $63 million capital investment that will create up to 60 new jobs in the region. R2S opened the facility in November 2025, building on RTX’s existing production capacity at the Highland Industrial Park in East Camden.

“Arkansans aren’t shy about being a key part of the arsenal of freedom; in fact, we are proud of it,” said Governor Sanders. “I was grateful for the opportunity to break ground on this facility in 2024, to cut the ribbon last November, and, today, to celebrate the completion of the first Tamir missiles produced here in the Natural State. The ongoing partnership between the state of Arkansas, the community of Camden, and R2S is special, and I look forward to more announcements like this in the future.”

Originally announced in October 2023, following Governor Sanders’ meeting with company executives at the International Paris Air Show, the project has grown from an initial $33 million investment and planned 30 jobs. R2S broke ground on the facility in February 2024 during a ceremony attended by Governor Sanders and other local leaders.

“Aerospace and defense companies are critical to our national and international security, and in Arkansas, our workers are playing an important role in delivering the products that make a difference around the globe,” said Clint O’Neal, executive director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission. “R2S is delivering its first Tamir missile produced in Camden, Arkansas today – a significant milestone for both the company and the local community. This delivery shows that Arkansans can get the job done and help companies meet their goals, and we are looking forward to many more successes at R2S.”

The R2S facility in Camden will also produce SkyHunter®, the U.S. variant of Tamir, supporting the U.S. Marine Corps’ Medium Range Intercept Capability, or MRIC.
